2016.11.02 Trumping Thought 3

After what seemed to be a gasp of refreshing trend towards reason, the polls are once again narrowing to reduce the certainty that Trump will not become POTUS. The effect has been characterized as a "coming home" for conservatives, back into the fold of the GOP.

To those conservatives who are "coming home" to vote for Trump - fuck you.

Your home is wrecked, and you're just a battered spouse denying how truly fucked up what was your home has become because it's too painful to face reality. Except, instead of just walking willing back to the brutal abuse, you're taking millions of others along with you for the joy of getting the same shit. Fuck you.

Look at your home. Look at it! The Republican party has fluffed its influence by cramming every available space with racists, bigots, sexists, and paranoids - all cattle-prodded into the GOP corral with regular shocks of fear. Teh Gayz corrupting children! Be-turbaned terrorists clamouring to get in! Brown people pedaling drugs and killing police! OMFG War On Christmas! All the while being bankrolled by giant companies who consistently fool you into wanting things that are against the self-interest of most people. And you fall for all of it. Fuck you.

You howl about how the Democratic party is worse. Yeah, they're a slimy barrel of greased weasels with the charisma of a used car salesman convention and a worrisome penchant for daydreaming. But at least they actually tend to work towards the ideals they say they hold. And at least they managed to nominate the most technically qualified candidate in American history. Not happy with the idea of a government that can actually do the job well? Fuck you.

What really pisses me off, though, is how my extremely low opinion of humans constantly needs to be revised downward. That there are disenfranchised individuals is understandable. That there are people loyal to their ideals no matter the cost is unsurprising. That there are people who just don't really understand what any of this means is just how bell curves work. But that apparently almost half of the voting-age citizens in the US are these classifications of childish idiots is horrifying. That there are some people choosing to be childishly idiotic grates on my last tatters of hope.
