2016.05.22 It's Been A Good Day
There are many subtle things that go into making a great day.
Things like, sleeping in - but not too late, to be awoken by a beautiful woman that you're in love with.
Going for a mountain bike ride at Sandy Ridge, and defying the rain and the mud to find that groove. You know that one: where you're fully alive, and everything is working right. It's not effortless, but thanks to some skill and concentration it's a few blinks away from flying. Where laughter rings out from you, echoing through forest, and the other idiots on the mountain nod in understanding.
A great day can also be marked by some silly, selfish things, like not being there when the older child spews from both ends - but having him be almost fully-recovered and happy by the time you show up.
It's also things like giving in to your rediscovered addiction to shawarma's, from a new place nearby that accepts online orders for faster and easier take-out. And eating so much at lunch that you no longer require dinner.
Having an ongoing story you're role-playing with your best friend make exciting and novel twists such that you can hardly wait to find out what happens next, that's also a fun component of a great day.
There is also the sublime satisfaction of having your happy children playing and snuggling with you that is pure reminiscence gold. How alive and gorgeous they are, joyfully playing and developing endearing personalities. Plus, also giving you an excuse to finally figure out and solve a Rubik's cube, after 36 years of procrastinating looking up the solution.
All in all, it has been a good day.
