2011.02.20 Maintenance Reminiscences

It turns out that there's a 200-item limit for display on a given page with the RooKwiki, and that had started messing with the display of the Rants. Not in a catastrophic way, but in a way that I had aesthetic issues with. So I have been systematically de-categorizing the individual Rants from the general Rant category, leaving them to occupy instead their YEAR-rant category (plus whatever other categories they might qualify for).

As I've done this (and paused transferring old Rants for the Rookery web1.0 Archive, because I'm lazy), I've been re-reading all the old stuff. Clearly, my target audience for all of this writing was me. And, boy, do I even know how to pander to that audience.

Just finished 2008, though. That was different. It was quite unintentional getting to this portion right around the anniversary of Dad's passing. It feels like a lot has happened in those three years.

I tell you this, and let the ruddy flush of my face and the brimming tears assure you of the intensity of my meaning:
I think about you all the time, Dad. And I hold my vow to you with continued conviction - Simon will know all about you, and will be properly trained in our ways. Especially the mean and funny bits.
