2008.02.10 Please Dad...

Dad, I remember vividly that winter when you first fell ill. It was so very sad, and frightening, and it changed all of our lives.
Now, it's a long way down the road - further than the doctors thought you might get. Yet it appears that the end of your road might be nearly upon us. And I'm frightened.
Not that I haven't been frightened all along, in varying degrees of rationalization. It's as selfish a fear as it ever was, but now it has a new feature to distinguish it.
Please, dad, if you can manage it - wait for me to get there.
Love,
your son - Sport
