2008.01.01 2008, Predictably
Do you know what's supposed to happen this year?
Yeah, a bunch of stuff. For the most part, I'm guessing that it's all going to be vaguely annoying and disappointing. Anticipation on the part of a whole society seems to have a way of stultifying.
I'm looking forward to many things that could happen this year. People who know me well will probably recognize my ability to abuse the notion of the word "could", and know full well that I'm quite possibly referring to an anticipation about an invasion of extraterrestrial aliens that simultaneously conquer the planet and devote themselves to me religiously. So it goes.
My suspicion, though, will be that many of the best aspects of 2008 will have a fair proportion of elements that are not likely to be predicted.
