Yes, I am boring, and quite possibly obsessed. A whole week of stuff happened, but what I want to reflect on is today's bike ride.

The riding crew have various kinds of amusing banter on the way up, but when we start riding the trails all of that is shed. All I can think about is the function of riding, and the experience of flying through the terrain. Exertion is leveraged to try to balance between fear and joy.

And today I nailed it. Pushing my talent, aided massively by my fantastic new bike, I managed to dial the joy all the way to 9.5 for most of the ride, with a carefully controlled buffer between my speed and the fear of losing control. It was fantastic.

I'm still at the back of the crew on the way down, and I don't catch up with anybody. But I was having an absolute blast. It makes me wish I could go riding every day.
