It was a thought that never failed to strike me at any Tragically Hip concert I ever went to. "Gordon Downie is a weird wiggly man." Because he always is, on stage.
But he's also the voice of the Tragically Hip - the band that plays the soundtrack of my eternal internal Canadian patriotism parade.
I just found out that he's got terminal brain cancer. The band announced it, and:
So after 30-some years together as The Tragically Hip, thousands of shows, and hundreds of tours…
We’ve decided to do another one.
I have to go. Obviously.
UPDATE:
Or, perhaps a lot more Canadians needed to go than there were tickets. Every show sold out, without me or any of my friends scoring a ticket.
