Today we noticed that it was Violet's half-birthday, which isn't really a thing but S decided that it was a fun excuse to make some cupcakes. Violet loved it. And it's exactly that sort of sentiment that I hope fills Violet's existence, so that she feels loved and can partake of the incredible joy she is the source of. So much of the time, she is a vividly happy being, powered by a singularly engrossing imagination. It makes everyone around her smile, but it causes me some extra measure of satisfaction.
Because, when I look closely at little Violet, I see a lot of my mom in there. Her scowls, her willfulness, her selflessness, her imagination - all of it. It's like getting to know an innocent and new facet of my mom. My adoration scarcely fits inside my heart.
Happy three-and-a-half, sweetie.
