There was also a corn maze, but that was somewhat harder to capture photographically.
It was one of S's days off with Simon, and I left work early to rendezvous with them at the pumpkin patch (and corn maze and amphibian haven) - one of the magical whimsical little family moments that are too fleeting and can slip out of your grasp if you let them. It was on Sauvie Island, a little rural wonderland just a short drive from downtown Portland, and we have had several long thoughts about the possibility of having a little farm house with some land on Sauvie Island for the sake of being a little more self-sufficient and simple.
Having spent some time in the ethnic mix and diversity of Portland proper, I find I'm in no rush to wander back to the outer blandness. We're not farmers, and have a bit too much of a good thing going cozied up to Mount Tabor for our exercise proclivities. Though I would love to have a whole barn for a garage and shop space...
