But, best of all, it&#039;s a bike.<br /> <br /> For a while, I have admired and thought wonderingly about the Surly bike company&#039;s laudable cargo bike the Big Dummy. I like the idea of having a bike to fetch stuff from the grocery store without having to use a car. Or for taking the kids for a ride. Or maybe even commuting? However such wistful thoughts have churned, it has never really seriously threatened to affect my mountain bike budget. Because, well, I worship in the church of dirt.<br /> <br /> BUT, there are times when going mountain biking is less-awesome - like when it&#039;s snowing out. I still go sometimes; it&#039;s just less awesome. Which gets one to thinking: Hey, maybe we should try riding those fat bikes through the snow some time. That could be fun. Just probably not fun enough to draw focus from my main mountain bike budget. Because gnar.<br /> <br /> Well, Surly just announced a fat bike version of the Big Dummy - the Big Fat Dummy. With more robust frame, more aggressive geometry, and the possibility of using a suspension fork. My jaw is agape.<br /> <br /> OK, so I&#039;m &lt;i&gt;still&lt;/i&gt; probably not going to defer any of my budget away from my [[2016.10.15 Bike Thoughts|Next Bike Thoughts]]. Priorities. But, you know, it would be pretty awesome to have a Big Fat Dummy for commuting / snow riding / local hauling / goofing off with the kids... if any other budget could be eked out later on.</div>
