Because, really, who would want an inherently safe nuclear power-generation technology with minimal radioactive waste, using relatively plentiful fuel, and with very little potential for weaponized nuclear products?<br /> <br /> Sift that sarcasm for the outrage. Because it&#039;s there. But hopefully it&#039;s not just wasted outrage, but instead can be refined into useful heat to help stoke progress.<br /> <br /> Maybe the decisions made during the Cold War can be forgiven, considering all the crazy that was suffocating the world. But it does irk me that we&#039;ve choked on our desperate need for fossil fuels, and grown fearful of nuclear power that was more about breeding plutonium than gigawatts, when we could have a significant and comparatively safe alternative by now.
