It was on Sauvie Island, a little rural wonderland just a short drive from downtown Portland, and we have had several long thoughts about the possibility of having a little farm house with some land on Sauvie Island for the sake of being a little more self-sufficient and simple.<br /> <br /> Having spent some time in the ethnic mix and diversity of Portland proper, I find I&#039;m in no rush to wander back to the outer blandness. We&#039;re not farmers, and have a bit too much of a good thing going cozied up to Mount Tabor for our exercise proclivities. Though I would love to have a whole barn for a garage and shop space...</div>
