Hence the title of this piece, and the delay getting it posted.

First, we drove to Galiano Island.

Then Simon ATE Galiano Island.

We were actually a bit relieved to discover that he can't actually digest rocks and dirt, but what a hell of a way to discover it.

While on Galiano we stayed in a spider-infested cabin, and also with S's cousins: the Luttmer family. The spiders were, apparently, food for some free-range peacocks. The Luttmers were incredibly generous and hospitable, and their elven princess daughters lavished Simon with attention that will likely echo into his adolescence, spoiling him utterly.

We also hiked around a bit, stumbling through profound beauty and peacefulness.

After Galiano we drove the Crowsnest Highway to Greenwood to stay with my mom. The drive along the Crowsnest was amazing. Lonely, swoopy, twisting mountain highway - exactly the sort of driving that nourishes my soul. I loved it.

Before we left Greenwood we went up to the wind-swept mountain ridge to visit my dad's marker.

Next was my old hometown(s) of Castlegar and Nelson, to see my mom (some more), my sister (and her family), my best friends (Dave and Bonnie), and my grandparents (Kosiancic).

We also got to see the Third Musketeer (Lou) and his family, which was fortunate. I was afraid we would miss them, in the same way that I missed our 20<sup>th</sup> high school reunion the following weekend. It was especially good hearing old family stories from Grandpa Kosiancic that I didn't even know - so much so that I mean to make it another rant.

Finally, we dragged ourselves back home while Simon practiced his Nazgûl impersonations.
