	We had the comprehesive 20-week ultrasound of the baby today. No wings. No tail. No hooves or horns. All appears well, and mostly normal. Except to the degree that he already looks like me. Part of me is sad about not having a daughter, though I'm pretty sure it's the same part that would be sad about not having a son if things were different. It's the stupid part that wants to have everything, and is generally oblivious to consequences. But there is also a deeper truth about being nervous about having a son - in that I know I'll be constantly comparing myself to how my father was with me. And I have doubts that I can live up to that.

Self doubt aside, I am really looking forward to keeping my final promise to my dad - to pass on what he taught me. Joy. Wisdom. Honour.

And, believe me, we're going to have <i>lots</i> of LEGO<sup>®</sup>'s.
