I imagine that everyone is talking about this today, and I doubt that I can offer anything more profound than most anybody else on the grand scale that this event is.<br />

In my own little corner, though, I can report that delaying my commute to stay home with my American wife as she burst with pride and hope was deeply wonderful. I've been an alien supporter of Barack since before it looked like he had a chance, for the simple reason that he makes more sense than rhetoric. I think I can almost wrap my head around how much America needs him; how much the world needs him. And that's OK. But really, what got past my thick hide today was feeling a rare (for me) sensation of lessened cynicism; that perhaps this is a world that I really do want to bring a child into.<br />
